A dolphin was spotted in the waters of Venice near the famous Rialto Bridge

The Mayor of Venice, Simone Venturini, posted a video showing a dolphin swimming near the Rialto Bridge in the Grand Canal. The animal was named Nane, and the mayor urged boat operators to be careful.
On Friday, August 14, the mayor of Venice reported that a dolphin had been spotted in the waters of the northern Italian city located in a lagoon, near the famous Rialto Bridge. Deutsche Presse-Agentur reports, as cited by UNN.

In a video posted on social media by Mayor Simone Venturini, a fin can be seen repeatedly appearing on the surface of the canal and then diving back underwater. The video was filmed on Thursday, and the dolphin has not been seen since.
"Dolphin near the Rialto Bridge," Venturini wrote on Instagram, adding that the animal had also been spotted in the central part of the Grand Canal — the city’s main waterway, 3.8 kilometers long.
It is not yet known whether this is the same dolphin that has been in the waters near Venice for some time. Venturini and most Venetians call it Nane, while researchers and the media call it Mimmo.
The mayor urged boat operators to exercise the utmost caution, as the footage shows the dolphin swimming among gondolas, water taxis, and motorboats near the Rialto Bridge — one of the busiest stretches of the Grand Canal.
"Please, let us be especially attentive to keep it safe!" Venturini urged.
