On April 9, a large-scale art installation ORIGAMI for UKRAINE appeared on the facade of the Museum of the History of Kyiv — a composition of 5,000 origami birds made of metallized paper, reports UNN.

The solemn opening of the installation took place with the participation of the Brussels City Hall, the Belgian delegation, media representatives, the Kyiv City Hall, public organizations and diplomatic missions.

The symbolic installation aims not only at an artistic gesture, but also at a practical goal — to raise funds for medical equipment for the Kyiv City Center for Rehabilitation Treatment.

Earlier, the project started in Brussels as a charity initiative to raise funds for the treatment of wounded Ukrainian soldiers in the Kyiv City Center for Rehabilitation and Palliative Care. Thanks to the project, about 50,000 euros have already been collected, which will be used to purchase the necessary medical equipment.

The project is implemented by the Museum of the History of Kyiv, the Kyiv and Brussels City Halls, the CHU Saint-Pierre Foundation, the ENGIE Foundation with the support of the Andriy Matyukha Foundation.

"Even such a simple image as an origami bird can carry a very strong message — about support, about caring, about faith in life. This project for us is not only about art, but also about hope and resilience, which can be felt just passing by the museum in the heart of Kyiv," noted the Andriy Matyukha Foundation.

The installation, in the creation of which children from the Kyiv Palace of Youth joined, will remain on the facade for 90 days as a symbol of international support and partnership between Kyiv and Brussels. Since 2023, the two capitals have been twin cities and together implement a number of humanitarian projects.
