The Ukrainian Olympic team set sail on a boat down the Seine to participate in the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympics. Despite the rain, the athletes demonstrate unbreakable spirit.

The President of Ukraine published a video in support of Ukrainian athletes in Paris. Zelensky noted their training despite the war and emphasized that they demonstrate the spirit of the entire Ukrainian people.

Veronika Marchenko finished the archery qualifying round at the Paris Olympics in 25th place with 657 points. Her opponent in the 1/32 finals will be 19-year-old Li Chai Qi from Chinese Taipei.

The Ukrainian national soccer team lost to Iraq 1-2 in its first match at the Olympics. The Ukrainians opened the scoring early in the second half, but then conceded two goals.

French President Emmanuel Macron will not appoint a new government until after the Olympic Games in Paris. He called for a “political truce” during the competition and plans to form a new government in late August.

French police have set up security perimeters in Paris ahead of the Olympic Games. The city center is closed to traffic, a pass regime is introduced and 45,000 law enforcement officers are deployed to guard the opening ceremony on the Seine.

The first Ukrainian athletes will start arriving at the Olympic Village in Paris on July 19. The Ukrainian delegation has already accepted the rooms where the team will live, which will be shared with teams from Canada, Germany and Ireland.
