The ceremony is expected to be attended by King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands, Princess Beatrix, and Prime Minister Rob Jetten. After the award ceremony, Zelenskyy will hold talks with the head of government on cooperation, particularly in the field of joint drone production.
A meeting between the President of Ukraine and the King is also planned, during which further support for Ukraine will be discussed. The award organizers note that its presentation has symbolic significance and is associated with the ideas of US President Franklin Roosevelt.
The "Four Freedoms" award is based on the principles of freedom of speech, freedom of worship, freedom from want, and freedom from fear. It has been awarded since 1982 in Middelburg and New York. Previous laureates include Nelson Mandela, the Dalai Lama, Angela Merkel, and the Red Cross.
