Yemen's Houthis claimed a missile strike and drone attack on Abha International Airport in Saudi Arabia in response to airstrikes on Sanaa International Airport. This was reported by AP, writes UNN.

According to the Iran-backed rebels, the attack was a response to strikes that they claim Saudi Arabia carried out on the airport of Yemen's capital earlier that day. There is no information about casualties or injuries so far, but the incident represents the biggest escalation between the parties in recent years. Saudi authorities have not yet commented on the allegations regarding the airstrikes.
Houthi spokesman Yahya Saree called on airlines to refrain from flying through Saudi Arabia's airspace.

The UN Security Council held an emergency meeting in connection with the new escalation. UN Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs Khaled Khiari stated that further escalation poses a serious threat to the region.
