What does a ceasefire at sea mean: the Navy's response
Kyiv • UNN
The Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine commented on the possible ceasefire at sea. Shelling of Ukraine is carried out from Crimea with missiles and drones, and not only from ships.
A ceasefire at sea would mean a cessation of shelling of Ukraine's port infrastructure. This was stated in a comment to Radio Liberty by Dmytro Pletenchuk, spokesman for the Ukrainian Navy, UNN reports.
Details
At the same time, according to him, Ukraine does not yet know, but suspects, what Russia means by a ceasefire at sea.
It is not difficult to guess what Russia is putting into this, but in any case, you need to read the final document, then you can draw some conclusions
He stressed that, based on the facts, the naval component of Russian attacks is not the main one, while the Iskander-M missile system, which is located in the temporarily occupied Crimea and from which strikes are carried out on the territory of Ukraine, poses a significant danger. In addition, the occupying peninsula launches Shahed-type strike drones.
"Launches take place from the territory of Crimea, i.e. the mainland. If we take the launches of "Shaheds" - it is also Cape Chauda, Crimea. Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Russia. Yes, they come from the sea, we meet them from the sea. But is this a marine component or not? Are the missiles they launch from planes from the Black Sea part of the truce at sea?" Pletenchuk summarized.
Recall
The day before, a meeting of the Ukrainian and American teams took place in Saudi Arabia to discuss the security of Ukraine's energy and infrastructure. The expansion of the Black Sea agreement was also discussed.
Earlier it became known that Romania and Bulgaria fear that an agreement between the US and Russia could restore Moscow's influence in the Black Sea. The talks concern the safety of navigation and exports.
