Updated Basic Military Training (BMT) introduced in six Ground Forces training centers – Ministry of Defense

The Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have introduced an updated basic combined arms training program in six training centers. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense, according to UNN.

Details

It is noted that the updated program was developed based on the experience of the 151st Training Center. The changes are intended to complement the existing training system, taking into account the need to adapt to the conditions of modern warfare.

The duration of training under the updated program remains standard – 51 days.

The list of exercises has remained almost unchanged, but the teaching logic has shifted. Training takes place in stages according to the principle of "from simple to complex." Cadets practice key skills to the point of automatism daily, which allows for a solid foundation of knowledge to be laid in a short period.

Firearms training exercises are repeated with gradual increases in complexity. Tactical training is focused on practicing actions as part of small tactical groups.

The duration of tactical pre-hospital medical training has been increased by 12 hours due to the optimization of outdated exercises.

Special attention in the updated program is paid to countering small drones. Recruits, in particular, practice engaging FPV drones using "lasertag" systems with two-way fire simulation.

Another important element was mentorship: a commander and an instructor are assigned to each platoon, who can be approached with any question.

A separate innovation was the introduction of pre-specialized training. Recruits have the opportunity to voluntarily and optionally (in an advanced individual training course) master areas needed at the front: rifleman-operator, rifleman-rescuer, or small tactical group commander.

Pre-specialized training is only undertaken by those who have shown an aptitude for it, passed preliminary selection, and demonstrated the best results in individual training and motivation for learning.

Initial feedback confirms: the methodology works, as it is based on the professionalism of the instructional staff and an attentive attitude toward each recruit. According to surveys, cadets rated their level as sufficient or high across all training subjects
