Ukrainian female rowers become European champions in the canoe double 500 meters

Luzan and Rybachok won gold at the 2024 European Championships in the canoe double 500 meters. This is their third joint victory in this discipline at the European Championships.
Ukrainian canoeists Liudmyla Luzan and Anastasiia Rybachok won gold at the 2024 European Championships in the canoe double 500-meter race. The competition took place in Montemor-o-Velho, Portugal. This was reported by the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine and the national Olympic team of Ukraine, according to UNN.
On the final competition day of the continental championship in Montemor-o-Velho, Portugal, Ukrainian canoeists Liudmyla Luzan and Anastasiia Rybachok stepped onto the podium! The athletes won "gold" in their signature discipline — the canoe double 500-meter race, in which they are two-time Olympic silver medalists
In the final, the athletes finished first with a time of 2:00.787, ahead of rivals from Hungary (+1.720) and Spain (+2.920).
According to available data, this is the fifth joint award for Liudmyla and Anastasiia at continental championships and their third of the highest caliber in this specific discipline. In total, this is the 16th medal for Luzan at European Championships (8 gold, 6 silver, 2 bronze), and the 5th for Rybachok (4 gold, 1 silver).
Notably, the Ukrainian tandem of Liudmyla Luzan and Anastasiia Rybachok returned to joint international competition this year following Anastasiia's maternity leave. Congratulations to the athletes and the coaching staff on the victory!
