The Commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykola Oleshchuk announced the successful repulsion of an air attack on the night of July 26, 2024. The enemy struck Donetsk region with an Iskander-M ballistic missile from the Rostov region of the Russian Federation, and also launched Shahed-type attack unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) from Cape Chauda (Crimea) and Kursk (Russia), UNN reports .
Details
The Air Force's radio engineering troops detected and escorted 22 “Shaheds”. Thanks to coordinated air defense actions, 20 of these UAVs were shot down in Kherson, Sumy, Zhytomyr and Chernihiv regions.
The air attack was repelled by mobile firing groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, anti-aircraft missile troops and electronic warfare (EW) units of the Air Force.
