Ukraine and Somalia have established diplomatic relations

Andriy Sybiha and Ali Mohamed Omar signed a protocol on the establishment of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Somalia. Ukraine also provided assistance to Somalia within the framework of the "Grain from Ukraine" program.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sybiha signed a protocol on the establishment of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Somalia during the Antalya Diplomatic Forum. The minister wrote about this on his X page, UNN writes.

"Today we officially established diplomatic relations with Somalia. I signed the relevant protocol with the State Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Somalia, Ali Mohamed Omar," Sybiha said.
The minister also said that the diplomats discussed further ways to develop future cooperation. He also announced that Ukraine is providing assistance to Somalia under the "Grain from Ukraine" program.
"Ukraine has provided assistance to Somalia under our "Grain from Ukraine" program and is ready to continue strengthening food security," Sybiha said.
He also emphasized that Ukraine appreciates Somalia's support for its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The Antalya Diplomatic Forum annually brings together leaders, politicians, scientists, business experts, as well as representatives of the media and civil society. The Fourth Antalya Diplomatic Forum (ADF2025) is held with the assistance of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and under the patronage of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
About 20 heads of state and government, more than 70 ministers and about 60 representatives of high-level international organizations took part in this year's forum. More than four thousand other guests are also present.

Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine strongly condemned the assassination attempt on the President of Somalia Hassan Sheikh Mohamud. The terrorist group "Al-Shabaab" claimed responsibility for the attack.
