Donald Trump has warned of an unprecedented US military response if hostages in the Middle East are not released by January 20, 2025. The statement came after the publication by Hamas of a video with an American-Israeli hostage.

US President-elect Donald Trump threatens those holding hostages in the Middle East with unprecedented American firepower if they are not released by the time he takes office on January 20, reports UNN with reference to the Times of Israel.

Trump first made this threat at the Republican National Convention in July, but the latest warning posted on Truth Social came a day after Hamas released a propaganda video with American-Israeli hostage Edan Alexander, in which a 20-year-old man pleads with Trump to secure his release.

"Everyone is talking about the hostages who are being held so cruelly, inhumanely and against the will of the whole world in the Middle East — but this is all talk and no action!" — Trump writes on Truth Social, without mentioning Israel or the terrorist group Hamas by name.

"Let this truth serve as evidence that if the hostages are not released before January 20, 2025, the date when I proudly assume the office of President of the United States, all hell will begin in the Middle East, and those responsible for these atrocities against humanity will have to pay," he says.

"Those responsible will suffer more than anyone in the long and glorious history of the United States of America. Release the hostages now!" He adds.
