A group of nine people split up during a hike in Nalychevo Park. Due to a blizzard, seven tourists lost contact, two participants died.

A group of tourists without proper equipment went missing while hiking in Nalychevo Park in Kamchatka; two of them have already been found dead. This was reported by UNN with reference to the statement of the Minister of Emergency Situations of the Kamchatka Krai.

According to rescuers, on March 28, a group of nine people set off on a hike from Pinachevo. Along the way, the participants split up: two took a different route with a tent and a satellite phone, while seven continued without communication or shelter.
The last contact with the group was on April 6, and on April 7, they were seen near a waterfall on the Shumna River. After that, the tourists disappeared.
Probable causes
According to the minister, on April 8, a strong blizzard could have started in the area, causing the tourists to lose their bearings.
There is a risk that they could have been caught in a blizzard, lost their bearings, and frozen to death.
The official also called crossing the Avacha Pass in winter with a bad forecast "madness." The search and rescue operation is ongoing, and the issue of attracting additional forces is being resolved.
