The police were approached by the starosta of the Starosta district, who, passing by the yard of a 34-year-old resident of the Mamayivska territorial community, noticed a boy tied with a chain.

Law enforcement officers and employees of the children's service went to the address.

The 10-year-old boy was removed from his family and is currently in a children's hospital.

According to law enforcement officers, the woman is raising four more sons aged 3, 4, 6 and 7 on her own, and also has a 14-year-old daughter who lives with her grandmother. Until experts make a decision, they are under the supervision of their grandparents, who live separately.

The mother explained her criminal actions as a method of upbringing so that her young son would not be naughty and run away from home.

Investigators of the Police Department #2 (Kitsman) of the Chernivtsi District Police Department, under the procedural supervision of the Chernivtsi District Prosecutor's Office, opened a criminal proceeding under Article 127 (Torture) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

This crime is punishable by imprisonment for a term of three to six years.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
