The Verkhovna Rada Committee supported the excise tax on sugary carbonated drinks

The Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Taxation and Customs Policy has supported a draft law introducing an excise tax of EUR 0.1 per liter on sweetened and flavored water, including mineral and sparkling water, which is expected to increase the price of such beverages by about UAH 4 per liter.
The Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Taxation and Customs Policy has supported the draft law N9032-1 on the introduction of an excise tax on sweet and soda. This was stated by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak, UNN reports.

The Committee supported the draft law 9032-1 on the introduction of a tax on sweet water starting next year. In favor - 16; Abstentions - 4;, Against - 1
Draft law No. 9032-1 proposes:
- to classify as excisable goods water, including mineral and carbonated water, with the addition of sugar or other sweetening or flavoring substances;
- set a specific tax rate of EUR 0.1 per 1 liter of beverage. The taxpayers are producers and importers of beverages.
According to the MP, according to the Ministry of Economy's calculations, the price of beverages will increase by about UAH 4 per liter.
