Russia will close the Polish Consulate General in St. Petersburg from January 10, 2025 in response to the closure of its consulate in Poznań. Russia has also declared three Polish diplomats persona non grata.
Russia, in response to the closure of its consulate in Poznań, will close the Polish Consulate General in St. Petersburg. This is stated in a statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry, published on December 5, reports UNN.
On December 5, the Russian Foreign Ministry handed a note to the Polish side, which states that in response to the closure on November 30 by the Polish authorities of the Russian Consulate General in Poznań, the Russian side is withdrawing its consent to the functioning of the Polish Consulate General in St. Petersburg from January 10, 2025
The Kremlin also declares three diplomatic employees of the Polish Consulate General in St. Petersburg persona non grata. They must leave the territory of the Russian Federation by January 10.
"The Polish side was emphasized that Moscow will take and will continue to take tough retaliatory measures against any unfriendly steps towards Russia", the Russian Foreign Ministry added.
