Ministry of Defense and General Staff create a separate vertical for aviation development - Umerov

A new vertical for aviation development will appear in the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Umerov has already appointed people who will oversee this direction and has submitted a proposal to the Cabinet of Ministers.

A new vertical will appear in the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which will focus on the development of aviation. This was stated by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov on Telegram, writes UNN.

Our goal is to increase the effectiveness of existing platforms and master new technologies that will give Ukraine an advantage in the sky. We already have F-16s, which have proven their effectiveness, as well as French Mirages. This is just the beginning, and we will continue to develop this direction.
Umerov announced that by the relevant order, with the consent of the President of Ukraine, he appointed people who will oversee this area:
- Major General Oleksiy Marchenko – to the position of Deputy Chief of the General Staff;
- Brigadier General Serhiy Holubtsov – Deputy Commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine;
- Colonel Oleksandr Diakiv – Commander of Aviation - Deputy Commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Umerov also submitted a proposal to the Cabinet of Ministers for the appointment of Oleksandr Kozenko as Deputy Minister of Defense for Aviation.
He worked as my advisor for a long time, in particular, he dealt with the issues of adapting F-16s and Mirages in Ukraine. Now his task is to extend these developments to the entire military aviation system.

Major General Oleksiy Marchenko has over 30 years of service in aviation. He started as a flight instructor, served in reconnaissance and fighter aviation regiments, commanded a squadron and a tactical aviation brigade. He was the first deputy commander, and then the commander of the "West" air command. He headed the Specialized Center for Combat Training of Aviation, worked in the structures of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the State Enterprise for Air Traffic Services of Ukraine. He is one of those who systematically developed the combat capabilities of aviation during the full-scale war.
Brigadier General Serhiy Holubtsov is one of the most experienced officers of the Air Force. He began his service in fighter aviation, commanded a squadron and a brigade, was deputy commander of the "Center" and "West" air commands. He was part of the leadership of the Air Force Command, responsible for personnel training and the development of aviation capabilities.
Colonel Oleksandr Diakiv has almost 30 years of military experience. He rose from pilot to commander of a tactical aviation brigade. He headed the faculty of retraining and advanced training of aviation personnel. Currently - Chief of Staff - Deputy Commander of Aviation of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
