Syrskyi declared the need to seize the strategic initiative on the front

The Commander-in-Chief of the AFU discussed active defense and the strengthening of air defense with NATO General Buzzard. Syrskyi emphasized the importance of air superiority and technology.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, during a meeting with the Commander of the NATO Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine (NSATU) and the Security Assistance Group – Ukraine, Lieutenant General Curtis Buzzard, stated the need to seize the strategic initiative at the front, as reported on social media on Saturday, UNN reports.

During the meeting, the Commander-in-Chief informed the NATO mission representative about the current operational situation at the front and emphasized that the Ukrainian military is conducting an active defense to exhaust the enemy.
"We must seize the strategic initiative, therefore we are conducting an active defense. This allows us to exhaust the enemy, restore positions, and inflict maximum losses,"
According to him, the main goal remains increasing the cost of every offensive step by Russian troops through the use of modern technologies and intellectual solutions.
The parties paid special attention to the current needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Among the key priorities, Syrskyi named the further strengthening of the air defense system.
"Without control of the sky, it is impossible to guarantee security on the ground," the Commander-in-Chief emphasized.
Syrskyi also thanked Lieutenant General Curtis Buzzard for supporting Ukraine and contributing to the strengthening of the defense capabilities of the Ukrainian military. During the meeting, he presented the American general with the Honorary Badge of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the "Steel Cross."
The Commander-in-Chief emphasized that strengthening the combat capabilities of the Ukrainian army is an important factor in deterring Russian aggression and bringing about a just peace.
