The Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office has completed a trial on charges of two members of an organized criminal group involved in illegal methadone trafficking.
One of the defendants organized a scheme aimed at obtaining and processing psychotropic Methadone pills, which were then sold to drug addicts in Sumy region.
The investigation established that the organizer of the group recruited drug addicts who received substitution therapy in medical centers and used them for illegal activities.
During the searches of the group members, law enforcement officers seized amphetamine, cannabis and a significant amount of Methadone pills.
The defendants pleaded guilty, and the court decided to sentence them to 5 years in prison. Meanwhile, the trial of the group's organizer is still ongoing.
