The Spanish Foreign Minister stated that the region is not within the Alliance's area of responsibility. Madrid condemned US actions against Iran as a violation of international law.
Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares stated that the Middle East is not within NATO's area of responsibility, and the Alliance has no intention of participating in the war in that region. Euronews reports this, as conveyed by UNN.
NATO is not involved in this war. We, the allies, were not informed and were not consulted. The Middle East is not within NATO's scope of action, and therefore not only us, but many allies have expressed the same opinion: NATO will not participate in this war.
It is noted that these comments are consistent with Spain's critical stance on US intervention against Iran, which the country called a blatant violation of international law.
