29-year-old Marius Borg Høiby, who joined the royal family when his mother Mette-Marit married Haakon in 2001, was acquitted on two other counts of rape.
He pleaded not guilty to the most severe charges against him, including rape, but pleaded guilty to some less serious ones and may appeal the verdict.
Prosecutors had requested that Høiby be sentenced to seven years and seven months in prison.
The seven-week trial gripped the Nordic country, detailing Høiby's drug addiction, homemade videos of sexual encounters, and more than 800 emails presented as evidence. As the court heard, one of the alleged rapes occurred in the basement of the Crown Prince's family home, the publication writes.
