Energoatom transports spent nuclear fuel from Ukrainian NPPs to the Centralized Spent Fuel Storage Facility (CSFSF), which allows Ukraine to save about USD 200 million annually and ensures self-sufficiency in nuclear fuel management.
The state-owned enterprise Energoatom transports spent nuclear fuel from Ukrainian NPPs for storage at the Centralized Spent Fuel Storage Facility, UNN reports citing the Energoatom press service.

Details
It is noted that the construction and commissioning of the storage facility continued despite Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
The CSFSF makes it possible to save about $200 million annually. It also makes Ukraine completely self-sufficient in the strategically important area of spent nuclear fuel management and storage.
"Currently, the CSFSF is successfully operated and performs its function by 100%. At the same time, the cost savings for spent nuclear fuel removal and dry storage from domestic NPPs this year alone have already fully covered the costs of the storage facility construction", said Petro Kotin, President of Energoatom.
AddendumAddendum
During the telethon, Petro Kotin said that Ukraine's first power unit using AR1000 technology is to start operating at Khmelnytsky NPP in 2028-2029.
