Smuggling of e-cigarettes: acting head of Chernivtsi customs dismissed

The acting head of the Chernivtsi customs office was fired for allegedly facilitating the smuggling of e-cigarettes worth over UAH 40 million. Disciplinary action was taken against 17 officials, and criminal cases were initiated.
The acting acting head of Chernivtsi customs, who could have facilitated the smuggling of of e-cigarettes totaling UAH 40 million has been fired. This was was reported by the State Customs Service, according to UNN.
In August of this year, an unscheduled inspection was conducted, which revealed facts of possible illegal activities of the head and officials of the Chernivtsi customs office
Details
It is noted that facts were established that officials facilitated the import of e-cigarettes outside of customs control for a total amount of more than UAH 40 million.
The State Customs Service initiated a number of disciplinary proceedings and applied disciplinary to 17 customs officers. The head of the customs office, who was acting at the time head of the Chernivtsi customs office, was dismissed from his post.
Also. It is also reported that the materials of the inspection on the fact of committing a possible criminal offense was sent to law enforcement agencies. Two officials of the customs officials were suspected of committing a criminal offense, under Part 3 of Article 365 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
According to the system Youcontrol, Yuriy Gerasymov is the head of the Chernivtsi customs office.
