In Letychiv, Khmelnytskyi region, a man was detained for opening fire with an assault rifle near the district territorial recruitment and social support center. This was reported by UNN with reference to the Khmelnytskyi Regional Prosecutor's Office.

Details

According to the investigation, the incident occurred on the evening of June 17 near the Khmelnytskyi District Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center located in the village of Letychiv. The prosecutor's office reported that a 31-year-old man, while intoxicated, arrived at the institution with an assault rifle.

According to the investigation, the man had previously declared this weapon in accordance with the procedure established by law.

During a conflict with military personnel, he fired several shots toward the fence of the administrative building, after which he left the scene. Law enforcement officers promptly located and detained the man. An assault rifle, two magazines, and 55 rounds of ammunition were seized from him

A pre-trial investigation has also been launched into the fact of hooliganism committed with the use of a firearm (Part 4 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment from 3 to 7 years.

The issue of notifying the detainee of the charges and filing a motion with the court to select a preventive measure in the form of detention is currently being decided
