Ukraine is initiating the creation of an international stock of critical components for rapid network repair. It is also planned to use equipment from German thermal power plants.
Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal proposed creating a joint mechanism for forming a strategic reserve of energy equipment with the participation of Germany, other partners, and international institutions, UNN reports.
He proposed to the German side to create a joint mechanism for forming a strategic reserve of energy equipment with the participation of Germany, other partners, and international institutions. This refers to pre-positioned stocks of critical components, ready for rapid deployment in case of large-scale damage.
According to him, another practical and quick solution is to use equipment from decommissioned thermal power plants in Germany.
At the same time, we are not just restoring — we are transforming our energy system. Our goal is to create a modern, resilient system integrated into ENTSO-E. Germany's experience in energy transition is extremely valuable to us. We are working under constant challenges, but at the same time, we are building a system designed for long-term stability and integration. German companies entering Ukraine now have the opportunity to become the first participants in this process. We are open to cooperation and ready to offer specific investment projects.

As the Minister of Energy reported, Germany is and remains a key partner in the energy sector. 552 million euros contributed to the Energy Support Fund, hundreds of humanitarian deliveries, and thousands of tons of equipment. We are grateful for this support.
During the Plenary Session of the Ukrainian-German intergovernmental consultations, chaired by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Federal Chancellor of Germany Friedrich Merz, I outlined the challenges to energy security, the current needs of the Ukrainian energy sector, and also spoke about opportunities for developing our cooperation. We highly appreciate the cooperation within the German-Ukrainian Energy Partnership. More than 100 German companies have provided 22,000 units of equipment for the repair and maintenance of Ukraine's critical infrastructure. Thank you!
In addition, the minister added that the constant presence of Siemens Energy, which remains involved in Ukraine even during the most difficult periods, is no less important.
