SE Forests of Ukraine to pay 83 million for illegal logging in a nature reserve - Office of the Prosecutor General

The court will recover 83 million UAH from SE "Forests of Ukraine" for the illegal felling of 738 trees in the "Hutsulshchyna" National Park. The enterprise failed to ensure the protection of the nature reserve fund.
SE "Forests of Ukraine" will pay over UAH 83 million for illegal logging of protected forests in the Prykarpattia region; the court satisfied the relevant lawsuit by the prosecutor's office. This is reported by UNN with reference to a statement from the Office of the Attorney General.
Details
It is noted that on June 2, 2026, the Economic Court of the Zakarpattia Region fully satisfied the lawsuit of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Prosecutor's Office and ordered the recovery of over UAH 83 million from SE "Forests of Ukraine" for damage caused by illegal logging in the forests of the Hutsulshchyna National Nature Park.
The violations were discovered in the fall of 2024 during an inspection at the Kosmach forestry. Nearly two dozen plots of unauthorized logging were recorded, where 738 trees, primarily beech, spruce, and fir, were destroyed. Attempts were made to hide the traces of logging by masking stumps with soil, leaves, and branches. The total amount of environmental damage exceeded UAH 83.2 million
It is indicated that the forestry was under the use of structures whose legal successor is the "Carpathian Forest Office" branch of SE "Forests of Ukraine."
Prosecutors proved that the permanent forest user failed to ensure proper protection and preservation of the forest fund, which led to systemic illegal logging in the protected area. The recovered funds will be directed to the state, regional, and local budgets

The court ruled as illegal the sale of a special permit for subsoil use in the Vinnytsia region and canceled the results of the electronic auction, the purchase and sale agreement, and the permit itself. During the consideration of the case, it was established that the bidding was distorted due to coordinated actions of the participants and a lack of real competition, the Office of the Attorney General reported.
