The Security Service of Ukraine neutralized an FSB agent network that was preparing terrorist attacks in the center of Odesa, the SBU reported on Friday, UNN writes.
The Security Service prevented new terrorist attacks in Odesa. As a result of pre-emptive actions, three FSB agents were detained who were preparing to blow up cars and homes of Ukrainian soldiers and their families.
According to the SBU, it was established that "the terrorist attacks were to take place through remote activation of improvised bombs." In this way, as indicated, the Rashists hoped not only to eliminate the military but also to spread panic among the civilian population of Ukraine.
According to the Main Directorate of Internal Security and Investigation of the SBU, the main "targets" of the Russian agents were special forces of the Security Service and military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine involved in combat operations on the southern front.
Initially, according to the special service, the suspects had been tracking the residences of Ukrainian defenders and the parking lots of their cars for a long time.
"Subsequently, they received coordinates from the FSB for a cache from which they retrieved two improvised explosive devices (IEDs). The perpetrators planned to plant both bombs near the entrance to the apartments of two servicemen of the Defense Forces. Then the terrorists were to retrieve new IEDs from caches to blow up the cars of the next 'targets,'" the SBU reported.
SBU officers, as noted, acted preemptively and detained the suspects when they were driving with explosive devices to the homes of Ukrainian military personnel.
"According to the case materials, the enemy's task was carried out by three local FSB agents – a 36-year-old draft dodger and two of his accomplices: a deserter and a representative of a public organization for public order protection," the report states.
At the scene of the detention, as indicated, IEDs and smartphones were seized from them, which they used to coordinate their actions with the Russian special services officer.
The agents were notified of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason committed under martial law). They are in custody without the right to bail.
They face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
