Russia claims to have held face-to-face talks with Ukraine on the return of Ukrainian children: what is known

Russia and Ukraine held talks with the mediation of Qatar, agreeing to transfer 29 children to Ukraine and 19 to Russia. So far, there have been no official comments from the Ukrainian authorities on the negotiations with Russia on the return of the children.

For the first time, Russia and Ukraine held face-to-face talks on children with the mediation of Qatar. This was reported by the Russian media with reference to the "children's ombudsman" Maria lvova-Belova, UNN reports.

According to the Russian media, the talks took place in Doha.

"...an agreement has been reached that 29 children will move to Ukraine, 19 - to Russia," the Russian "children's ombudsman" was quoted as saying.

So far, there have been no official comments from the Ukrainian authorities on the negotiations with Russia on the return of the children.

The International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants for Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russian Children's Rights Commissioner Maria Levova-Belova. They are suspected of illegal deportation and transfer of Ukrainian children.

The arrest warrants mean that outside of Russia, Putin and Levova-Belova must be arrested and brought to trial.
