Return of the External Independent Evaluation is not yet possible: the Ukrainian Center for Educational Quality Assessment explained why

Returning to the classic External Independent Evaluation is currently impossible due to the war. This was stated by the director of the Ukrainian Center for Educational Quality Assessment, Tetyana Vakulenko, during a briefing, reports UNN.

According to Vakulenko, the NMT largely retains the features of the EIT. The main difference is the format: instead of paper testing, computer testing is now used.

It seems to me that in fact, a computer offers more opportunities than paper. Because there are more types of test tasks that can be presented and content, that is, the stimulus material that students work with, can be presented in different formats and it can be even more interesting than the one on paper.

At the same time, as Vakulenko noted, the current format, when applicants take tests in four subjects in one day, is forced. 

We are forced to provide such a format as long as we have assessment abroad, as long as we have to offer it to applicants from the occupied territories or where there are active hostilities. That is, until we are ready to offer several days of assessment due primarily to logistical issues for applicants.

If circumstances change and we can offer several days of assessment, at least a two-day format, then of course, we will be happy about it and will try to implement it.

She also noted that this year more than 312,000 applicants registered to participate in the NMT, although more than 320,000 offices were created. According to Vakulenko, some applicants did not submit documents for processing or changed their decision regarding admission.

About 20,000 participants applied to take the test abroad, which is less than 10% of the total number.
