According to Nigerian defense spokesman Tukur Gusau, Prince Harry will arrive in Africa in May, after attending a service at St. Paul's Cathedral in London to mark the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games.
According to Gusau, the prince's visit includes participation in cultural events, "strengthening Nigeria's position in the Games and the possibility of hosting future events.
Veterans from Nigeria, where clashes with Islamic extremists continue in the east, took part in last year's games in Germany.
Prince Harry founded the Invictus Games in 2014 to support the rehabilitation of wounded and sick servicemen and women and veterans after he returned from serving in Afghanistan as a pilot.
In a recent Netflix documentary series about the Invictus Games, Harry said he didn't get the support he needed after returning from combat in Afghanistan. He noted that his return in 2012 brought back suppressed emotions.
Recall
Last year, Ukrainian veterans also participated in the Invictus Games, winning prizes. Ukraine was represented by a team of 25 female and male veterans of the russian-Ukrainian war who were injured during or as a result of their duties in the combat zone.
