Oksana Markarova reported massive attempts by pranksters to contact Ukrainian government officials on behalf of American officials. The embassy uses only verified communication channels and reports such cases to law enforcement.

Ukraine's Ambassador to the United States Oksana Markarova has reported an attack by pranksters posing as American officials and asking for direct contacts of Ukrainian colleagues, UNN reports.

"Colleagues, in recent days, I have received a bunch of messages on my phone from pranksters/intruders posing as American government officials and either asking for direct contacts of our government officials or for an urgent conversation (usually pretending to write from some secret phone)," Markarova said.

At the same time, the ambassador noted that "of course, we are in constant contact with all our partners and we also use exclusively proven communication channels, so all such cases were immediately caught and reported to law enforcement.

"However, given the surge in such contacts, as well as the rather good quality of execution, I decided to write here to draw everyone's attention to the intensification of the attackers (aggressive northern neighbors?). Be vigilant and check contacts from unfamiliar numbers/emails/messengers," Markarova summarized.
