"Today is the Day of Remembrance for children killed by Russia. Not 'perished.' Specifically killed. 707 children. Another 2,548 wounded.
Behind every figure is a life that was meant to continue. The first school bell. Graduation. First love. Their own family. The future. Russia took this away with missiles, aerial bombs, artillery, and drones. It killed children in their own beds. In hospitals. It deported Ukrainian children, illegally detained them, broke their destinies, and tried to deprive them of the right to be Ukrainians," Ruslan Kravchenko wrote.
The Prosecutor General emphasized that these are only the crimes we have already been able to record and prove. The real scale of the tragedy in the temporarily occupied territories may be significantly larger.
Today, we are investigating more than 6,000 criminal proceedings regarding crimes against children and in the field of child protection committed as a result of Russian aggression. 234 servicemen of the RF and other involved persons have been notified of suspicion. Indictments against 108 individuals have been sent to court. There are already verdicts," Kravchenko reported.
He also cited three episodes of crimes committed by the Russian military.
Vinnytsia. July 14, 2022. A strike by "Kalibr" missiles on the city center. Three children were killed.
Dnipro. January 14, 2023. A missile destroyed a residential building. Six children were killed.
Kyiv. July 8, 2024. Russia deliberately attacked the "Okhmatdyt" children's hospital. A hospital where children with the most severe illnesses were being saved. Children who were already fighting for their lives.
"In fact, we have hundreds of such stories," the Prosecutor General added.
Kravchenko emphasized that the task is to identify everyone involved.
"Everyone who pressed the missile launch button. Everyone who gave the order. Everyone who planned these strikes and reported on their execution. For such crimes, there is no statute of limitations. June 4 is a day of remembrance.
And a day to remind Russia: every killed Ukrainian child has a name. And every Russian criminal involved in their death also has a name. Our duty is to ensure that a verdict stands between these two names," Kravchenko emphasized.
