Number of foreign companies in Russia decreased by a third due to the war - intelligence
Kyiv • UNN
Due to aggression against Ukraine, the number of foreign firms in Russia fell by 35.5%. A massive outflow of capital has been recorded even among formally friendly countries.

Since the beginning of the full-scale aggression against Ukraine, Russia has been rapidly losing foreign business and investments. This is reported by UNN with reference to the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine.
Details
The number of companies with foreign capital in Russia decreased by 35.5% - to 14.3 thousand as of April 2026.
Despite the emergence of 1657 new companies over the past four years, this process is significantly offset by a massive outflow: over the same period, more than 10.8 thousand enterprises with foreign participation were liquidated. Most businesses left jurisdictions traditionally used for international investments, including Cyprus, Seychelles, Great Britain, and Germany
Ukrainian intelligence notes: such dynamics are a direct consequence of Russia's international isolation due to its armed aggression against Ukraine.
At the same time, among formally "friendly" states, a decrease in activity is observed. The only exceptions are individual countries, such as China, Belarus, and Uzbekistan, where a slight increase in the number of companies has been recorded. Businesses from other post-Soviet countries are gradually reducing their presence in Russia
According to the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine, foreign companies were traditionally concentrated in wholesale trade, real estate, construction, IT, and the financial sector. However, a decline is currently observed in almost all industries, especially in public catering, construction services, and consulting.
