"It is this commitment that has contributed to increased stability as Kosovo's security structures have become more capable. Current conditions create an opportunity for further optimization of the size and posture of KFOR forces," he added.
NATO noted that the gradual reduction of the contingent will take place in accordance with national rotation cycles and troop redeployments throughout this and next year.
The changes will be implemented gradually and in accordance with the situation on the ground. If necessary, they can be reviewed or reversed, the Alliance emphasized.
