The incident occurred a week ago in a park in the city of Delmenhorst.
When a thunderstorm broke out, the family took shelter from the rain under a tree about 20 meters high.
Paramedics resuscitated the children on the spot and then flew them to the nearest hospitals by rescue helicopters.
However, the 14-year-old girl died in hospital. Her five-year-old brother was seriously injured. He is still under medical supervision.
It is noted that six of the eight family members, including the mother and father, received medical care and have already returned home.
