The incident occurred on July 21 at around 10 am in Chernihiv. Law enforcement officers have previously established that a 4-year-old boy leaned on a mosquito net on an open window and fell from the fifth floor. The boy's parents were resting at the time.

The circumstances of the incident are currently being investigated.
Law enforcement officers opened a criminal proceeding under Article 128 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (negligent grievous or moderate bodily harm.
The police once again urged parents to strictly follow the safety rules at home and to restrict access to open windows and balconies for young children, including those equipped with mosquito nets, which create a false impression of protection.
It is noted that bars or tightly closed windows will protect a child from falling. The space near the window sill should be free of furniture: otherwise, the child will be able to climb on it and reach the window. In no case should a child be left unattended.
