It is noted that the initial round of talks will be largely preparatory, meaning that a final settlement to end the war in Lebanon is not expected anytime soon.
It is also reported that as US and Iranian officials will meet in Pakistan on Saturday for peace talks, the ambassadors of Israel and Lebanon were also scheduled to hold a phone call on Friday in the presence of US officials.
