Iran has provided its response to the latest U.S. amendments to the draft plan for ending the war, Axios reports, citing a regional source, according to UNN.

As the publication notes, Iran's response indicates that diplomacy is not completely frozen. It comes as U.S. President Donald Trump maintains a U.S. naval blockade and considers new military actions against Iran, the publication notes.

Iranian state media also reported on the response given to the U.S. on Thursday through Pakistani intermediaries.

Last weekend, Iran presented the U.S. with a proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and end the war, postponing nuclear talks to a later stage.

On Monday, according to a source familiar with the situation, White House special envoy Steve Witkoff sent a list of amendments aimed at returning the nuclear issue to the draft text.

The source said one of the amendments included a requirement for Iran not to attempt to remove enriched uranium from its bombed nuclear facilities and not to resume any activity at those sites while negotiations are ongoing.

"Nobody knows what the negotiations are about except me and a few other people. They really want to make a deal. We have a problem because nobody knows exactly who the leaders are. It's a small problem," Trump told reporters in the Oval Office on Thursday.

The Iranians claim that it is Trump who is desperate for a deal.

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

On Thursday afternoon, Trump consulted with his national security team on Iran for about 45 minutes in the White House Situation Room.

The meeting was attended by U.S. Vice President JD Vance, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, and Witkoff.

U.S. Central Command Commander Admiral Brad Cooper and Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Cain briefed Trump and his team on new plans for possible military action against Iran, two U.S. officials said.
