Influenza viruses circulate in Kyiv and two regions

In Ukraine, 124,265 people fell ill with SARS, influenza and COVID-19 last week, including 73,733 children. Influenza virus circulation was reported in Ternopil, Cherkasy regions and Kyiv.
Circulation of influenza viruses has been detected in three regions - Ternopil, Cherkasy, and Kyiv. A slight exceeding of the epidemic threshold was registered in those regions. UNN reports this with reference to the Ministry of Health.
"124,265 people fell ill with ARVI, flu and COVID-19 in Ukraine from December 9 to 15, including 73,733 children. Due to complications, 1,790 children and 1,259 adults were hospitalized. 569 patients were diagnosed with COVID-19, 209 required hospitalization," the Ministry of Health informs.
A slight exceedance of the epidemic threshold was reported in Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, and Chernivtsi regions.
"In other regions of Ukraine, the situation with epidemic activity is stable, at the pre-epidemic level. In three regions - Ternopil, Cherkasy regions and the city of Kyiv, according to the Public Health Center, the circulation of influenza viruses has been recorded," the statement said.
It is noted that since the beginning of the epidemic season, more than 1.3 million people have been ill with SARS, influenza, and COVID-19. This is 18.9% less than last year. Of the total number of people who fell ill, 14,169 had COVID-19, 58 died.

"Annual vaccination against influenza is recommended. The vaccine is not included in the list of free vaccinations, but is available in pharmacies. As of December 15, 98,987 people have been vaccinated against influenza," the Ministry of Health informs.
