In Ternopil, law enforcement officers detained a man suspected of committing domestic violence. According to the police, he locked his partner in an apartment and threatened her with physical violence. This was reported by the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Ternopil region, according to UNN.

"Today, June 18, at around 05:00, the Ternopil District Police Department received a report of domestic violence. The applicant called from the Kharkiv region and reported that her sister, who lives in Ternopil, needed help: her partner had locked the woman in the apartment and was threatening her with physical violence. The man was likely under the influence of drugs," the police statement said.

A domestic violence response team arrived at the scene immediately, but the man refused to open the front door and behaved aggressively.

In connection with this, a special police unit was additionally dispatched to the scene, "and after negotiations, the suspect opened the door." He turned out to be a 30-year-old resident of the Donetsk region currently living in Ternopil, the police indicated.

According to the police, no one was injured as a result of the incident, and the suspect was detained in accordance with Article 261 of the Code of Administrative Offenses. A legal assessment of his actions will be provided following an investigation.
