A Mercedes driver ran over a patrol officer in Poltava. The injured police officer was hospitalized, and the driver was detained.
In Poltava on Yevropeiska Street, the driver of a MERCEDES-BENZ car ran over a police officer. According to the Poltava region police, the law enforcement officer sustained bodily injuries, reports UNN.

According to the preliminary version of the investigation, during a stop by patrol police of a MERCEDES-BENZ car, the driver of the passenger car ran over one of the law enforcement officers. As a result, the police officer sustained bodily injuries.
Law enforcement officers established that a 39-year-old local resident was behind the wheel. The man was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The issue of notifying him of suspicion and choosing a preventive measure is currently being decided.
In connection with this incident, the investigative unit of the Poltava District Police Department, under the procedural guidance of the Poltava District Prosecutor's Office, has initiated a pre-trial investigation under Part 2 of Article 345 (Threat or violence against a law enforcement officer) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The circumstances and causes of the incident are being established.
The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of restriction of liberty or imprisonment for a term of up to five years.
