In Kyiv, a new platform zoning system is being tested at "Syrets" while the metro station is operating as a shelter

Wayfinding stickers with recommendations have been placed at Syrets metro station to help people navigate the designated areas on the platform while staying at the station as a shelter. The information was provided by the Kyiv Metro municipal enterprise, reports UNN.

Details

The recommendations are intended to facilitate a more comfortable and orderly arrangement of people on the platform and provide for the conditional division of the space into 4 categories during sheltering:

  • recommended places for people with children;
    • recommended places for people with reduced mobility;
      • recommended places for people with animals;
        • recommended places for sitting.

          At the same time, the zoning will help duty personnel better navigate the placement of different categories of people and, if necessary, provide them with the required information or assistance more promptly.

          The platform zoning is advisory in nature and implies a responsible attitude by everyone toward the shared space. Metro employees do not intend to move people between the designated zones, as the effectiveness of this approach largely depends on people's willingness to follow the recommendations and take into account the needs of those nearby.

          Similar solutions are currently being developed for other stations as well. The municipal enterprise will provide additional information about the results of the pilot project and the further placement of recommendations at other stations.

          Kyiv considers banning tents and mattresses in the metro during air raids02.06.26, 18:57 • 139262 views

          The Kyiv Metro also called on passengers not to bring bulky items with them, including tents or inflatable mattresses. The number of people using stations as shelters is increasing, so free space is important for everyone's safe and comfortable stay. While caring about your own comfort, it is also worth remembering the comfort of others and jointly following the recommendations regarding placement.
