Currently, there are about 1.65 million Ukrainians registered throughout Germany, and their number has increased by about 250 thousand people over the year, Spiegel reports citing data from the German Interior Ministry, UNN writes.

"The number of people who have fled from Ukraine to Germany since the beginning of the Russian aggressive war has increased significantly," the newspaper writes, citing the response of the German Interior Ministry to CDU MP Alexander Trom.

"As of March 12, about 1.65 million Ukrainians were registered with the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (Bamf). A year ago, there were 1.4 million of them," the newspaper points out.

This means that the number of Ukrainians who came to Germany increased by about 250,000 people over the year.

The head of Bamf, Hans-Eckhard Sommer, recently told the Bundestag's Interior Committee that the number of new arrivals from Ukraine currently exceeds the number of new asylum applications from other countries. "We have to assume that the majority of Ukrainians who come now will be accommodated by the state," Sommer warned.

Against this backdrop, Trom demanded that the federal government work toward "a more even distribution of incoming Ukrainian war refugees in Europe." "Germany is reaching its limits," he said.
