Bosnia's Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmedin Konaković stated that he does not support Ukraine's accelerated EU accession because it does not control its entire territory. He emphasized that the EU should apply the same approaches to all candidates.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Elmedin Konaković stated that he does not support the idea of Ukraine joining the European Union faster than the countries of the Western Balkans. He explained his position by saying that Ukraine currently does not control its entire territory, reports Aktuality.sk, writes UNN.

Ukraine does not even control its entire territory today. That is why I do not think this is the approach based solely on merit that the European Union talks about
According to him, Bosnia and Herzegovina fully supports Ukraine's territorial integrity and its fight against Russian aggression, but believes that the EU applies different approaches to candidate countries.
Of course, we know why. Ukraine is facing brutal Russian aggression
At the same time, Konaković stated that he does not consider it right to give Ukraine priority only because of the war.
I do not consider it right to send a message that Ukraine will move faster because it is at war and does not control its entire territory, while we should wait because the European Union insists on a meritocratic approach
The Minister also called on the European Union to show political leadership and speed up the accession negotiations of Bosnia and Herzegovina, emphasizing that delaying this process creates opportunities for strengthening Russian influence in the Western Balkans.
