Ukraine declares a ceasefire from midnight on May 6 for the sake of preserving human lives. Zelenskyy called on the Russian Federation to take real steps to end the war.
Human life is an incomparably greater value than the "celebration" of any anniversary. In connection with this, Ukraine announces a regime of silence starting from 00:00 on the night of May 5 to May 6. This was stated by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, UNN reports.

Zelenskyy emphasized that as of today, there has been no official appeal to Ukraine regarding the modality of the cessation of hostilities, which is being claimed in Russian social networks.
We believe that human life is an incomparably greater value than the "celebration" of any anniversary. In connection with this, we announce a regime of silence starting from 00:00 on the night of May 5 to May 6. In the time remaining until that moment, it is realistic to ensure the onset of silence. We will act mirror-like, starting from the specified moment
According to him, "the time has come for the Russian leaders to take real steps to end their war, if the Russian Ministry of Defense already believes that it will not hold a parade in Moscow without the goodwill of Ukraine."
As a reminder
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation stated that a truce would be announced on May 8 and 9 on the occasion of "Victory Day" and immediately resorted to threats to strike the center of Kyiv in case of an attempt to "disrupt the celebrations."
