U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth warned Cuba against purchasing weapons capable of striking the naval base at Guantanamo Bay or the U.S. mainland, located 90 miles away, UNN reports, citing AP.
"They will provoke a confrontation that they not only do not want but cannot tolerate," Hegseth said, adding that the U.S. military would "provide the commander-in-chief with all the capabilities he needs in such a contingency."
The publication notes that Trump is threatening Cuba with military intervention in an attempt to force the government leadership to resign.
