HACCU announces verdict against head and deputy of Odesa city council found guilty of corruption

The head and a deputy of the city council of Izmail district of Odesa region were sentenced to 9 and 10 years in prison, respectively, for taking a bribe for leasing a land plot.
The HACC announced the verdict against the head and a deputy of one of the city councils of Izmail district, Odesa region, who were caught taking bribes to secure the lease of a communal land plot. The head of the city council was sentenced to 9 years in prison. A deputy of the same council was sentenced to 10 years in prison. This was reported on Thursday by the SAPO, UNN reports .
On April 17, 2024, the HACCJ panel of judges announced a verdict against the head and a deputy of one of the city councils of Izmail district of Odesa region, who were caught asking for USD 100 thousand of undue advantage and receiving part of this money in the amount of USD 50 thousand from a citizen for securing the lease of a communal land plot of about 2.5 hectares
The court agreed with the position of the SAPO prosecutor and found the individuals guilty of committing a crime under Part 4 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The court sentenced the head of one of the city councils of Izmail district, Odesa region, to 9 years in prison with confiscation of all property owned by him. A deputy of the same council was sentenced to 10 years in prison with confiscation.
The court also deprived these individuals of the right to hold positions in local government and state authorities for a period of 3 years.
The verdict of the High Anti-Corruption Court comes into force thirty days after its announcement, unless it is appealed to the HACC Appeals Chamber.
