HACC recovers assets worth millions of hryvnias from former head of strategic investigations department in Kyiv to state revenue

The High Anti-Corruption Court partially granted the lawsuit of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office and ruled to seize the assets of the former head of a department of the Strategic Investigations Directorate in Kyiv of the National Police of Ukraine into state revenue. This was reported by UNN with reference to the SAPO.

Details

According to the prosecutor's office, these are assets acquired by the official during 2021–2023 and registered both in his own name and in the names of his family members.

The court ruled to seize into state revenue part of the cash savings in the amount of UAH 541.5 thousand, the value of a 2021 Volkswagen Passat worth UAH 1.35 million, the income from the sale of this car in the amount of UAH 150 thousand, the value of a 2022 Volkswagen Touareg worth UAH 2.92 million, as well as a 2022 BMW 330i worth UAH 1.75 million.

The official declared various sources of income that were supposed to explain the origin of funds for the purchase of expensive property. However, an analysis of his family's income and expenses showed that the declared funds were insufficient for such purchases,

- the SAPO noted.

In addition, during the investigation, it was established that to conceal the fact of acquiring a Volkswagen Touareg SUV worth almost UAH 3 million, it was registered to a relative who worked as a senior security guard in a retail chain. At the same time, according to the prosecutor's office, the collected evidence indicated that the actual user and acquirer of the car was the subject of declaration himself.

The SAPO emphasized that the lawsuit was filed based on materials from the NACP, the State Bureau of Investigation, as well as evidence independently collected by prosecutors.

The decision of the High Anti-Corruption Court may be appealed within 30 days from the date of the drafting of the full text of the decision.
