France will ban social media for children under 15 starting September 1

The French Parliament has passed a decision to ban social media for children under 15 starting September 1. This was announced by French President Emmanuel Macron on social media platform X, reports UNN

I promised to do this, and now it has been adopted: with the start of the school year, social networks will be banned for children under the age of 15. Thank you to the deputies. Now it is up to the Constitutional Council, and then - time to act to implement this measure and protect our children on the Internet

- wrote Macron.

As indicated on the website of the French National Assembly, the bill also provides for a ban on the use of mobile phones in senior high school classes. Exceptions are made for online encyclopedias, educational and scientific resources.

Let us recall

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated that the European Union is considering the possibility of introducing age restrictions for children's use of social networks.
