Former MP: Head of the ARMA Duma should be held accountable for delaying the sale of Medvedchuk's yacht
Kyiv • UNN
Ihor Mosiychuk calls for criminal proceedings to be opened over the delay in the sale of Medvedchuk's yacht. He believes that the head of the ARMA, Olena Duma, should bear political responsibility and resign.
Due to the delay in the sale of the yacht of former MP Viktor Medvedchuk, a suspect in high treason, the Asset Recovery and Management Agency should open criminal proceedings, and the head of ARMA, Olena Duma, should at least be politically liable. This opinion was expressed in an exclusive commentary to UNN by public figure and former MP Ihor Mosiychuk.
“First, criminal proceedings should be opened unequivocally, because someone acted in Medvedchuk's interests. The investigation should find out who this someone is, who exactly committed these actions. Secondly, the head of the ARMA, Duma, should be held politically accountable, at least to begin with. She should be immediately dismissed,” Mosiychuk said.
According to him, even if such negligence was not committed by the Duma personally, but by one of its subordinates, it is still inefficiency and criminal negligence.
“Knowing that not a fly flies inside the ARMA without Duma, I have personal questions to her about this case. But these questions should be asked not by me, but by the investigator,” the former MP emphasized.
Context
Last week it became known that the ARMA cannot sell one of Viktor Medvedchuk's most expensive seized assets, the Royal Romance yacht, because a court in Croatia has canceled the seizure of the property.
The Office of the Prosecutor General notedthat throughout the seizure, efforts were made to develop mechanisms that would allow ARMA to sell the property located abroad. However, the new ARMA leadership allowed delays in this process and started the procedure for the sale of the yacht only on March 20, 2024, almost 2 years after the arrest.
The ARMA even tried to hide its fiasco with the yacht by publishing news of the successful sale of one buggy and one ATVbelonging to Medvedchuk. However, ARMA sold the buggy and ATV for 920 thousand hryvnias, while the yacht is estimated to be worth almost 8.5 billion hryvnias.
