A fire broke out at Zaporizhzhia NPP, probably due to the occupiers' negligence. The Russians use the plant as a military base, which significantly increases the risk of a radiation accident.

According to available information, on August 11, 2024, at about 20:00, a fire broke out at a technical water supply facility on the territory of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. The incident resulted in the fire of cooling tower number one and damage to other process equipment. Despite the seriousness of the incident, no violations of the plant's limits and conditions for safe operation were detected. Radioactive emissions and discharges do not exceed control levels. This was reported by Energoatom, UNN reports.

It is noted that the probable cause is the negligence of the racist occupiers, or the deliberate arson of the cooling tower  by orcs.

Cooling tower number one is located about a kilometer from the plant's power units.

It is known that the Russian occupiers use the premises and facilities of the NPP as military warehouses to store equipment, weapons, explosives and military ammunition. They have placed military vehicles in the station's sheds.

Cooling towers are also used as storage and concealment facilities for military equipment and ammunition, which significantly increases the risk of fires in NPP production facilities.

The degradation of NPP systems and components is worsening the overall safety situation at ZNPP every day. Large-scale fires can lead to events up to a radiation accident.

At the same time, we inform you that the radiation situation at the plant is within the current standards, and there is currently no threat of radiation contamination to the public.

The use of the nuclear power plant as a military base by the Islamic State exposes the entire world to the threat of a nuclear disaster. Only the liberation of ZNPP and its transfer to the only legitimate operator, Energoatom, can guarantee the prevention of a nuclear and radiation accident and ensure its reliable and safe operation.

Energoatom said in a statement.

The State Emergency Service informed about the radiation situation in Ukraine as of midnight on August 12Aug 11 2024, 09:13 PM • 27520 views
